Clarins Perfects the Spring Flush with Sweet Rose

Aside from the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (which I adore) and a bronzer, I hadn't dabbled much in Clarins makeup until just recently. One of the products in their Garden Escape Spring 2015 Color Collection I was most excited to try was the Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Color in 08 Sweet Rose.

Clarins Blush Prodige Illuminating Cheek Color in 08 Sweet Rose ($32) is a medium, petal pink with a hint of peachiness that peeks through only once applied to the skin. It has great medium pigmentation that is easy to build up as desired without looking caked on, and it's easy to blend. Matte finishes are often the most difficult formula to perfect, but Sweet Rose manages to have a natural, soft matte finish with a texture that is still smooth and non-chalky. The top right and bottom left sections of the blush provide the softest luminosity when the blush is swirled together (read: not shimmer), and it keeps the matte finish from appearing flat or lifeless. The shade itself doesn't seem like the most revolutionary blush shade ever, yet every time I apply it, I'm reminded of just how utterly perfect it is for springtime. It's a youthful and cheery shade that will suit most.

After having the opportunity to try out my first Clarins blush, I'm kind of scratching my head, wondering why I haven't heard much buzz surrounding these. They're nice...really nice. I think I hear 02 Soft Peach calling my name next...
