The Best Under-Eye Concealer: Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

You can pretty much tell by the state of my Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer tube that I used the heck out of it before realizing I've never reviewed it, which is a shame because it's my absolute favorite under-eye concealer.
Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer claims to be full coverage, creaseless, waterproof and long-wearing. I have the shade Light-MediumI was initially surprised by its incredibly thick, slightly tacky consistency, but I quickly realized that this texture is what helps the concealer to adhere and wear so well on the skin.

In order for the concealer to spread and blend flawlessly, warming the product up with your fingers is a necessary step, which is why I find application with fingers better than that with a brush, which can often leave the concealer looking streaky. I squeeze out the tiniest amount of product onto my ring finger (a little truly goes a long way!), tap it between my two ring fingers and apply it to my under-eye area with a gentle patting motion. The coverage is impeccable.

Although Maracuja Creaseless Concealer is incredibly moisturizing due to the inclusion of Maracuja oil, I find that prepping the skin with a hydrating eye cream (or moisturizer if applying it to the face) is ideal because the thick texture means that the concealer carries the potential to cling to drier areas. The finish is healthy and dewy, which is perfect for brightening up and enhancing the overall appearance of the under-eye area.

Before (top) and after
In the photo above, I applied Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in Light-Medium only to my under-eye and inner corner areas. I did not apply any concealer to my lids, and I also am not wearing any foundation because I wanted to show the coverage the concealer carries on its own.

For me, Maracuja Creaseless Concealer ticks all the boxes for a perfect under-eye concealer. It's full-coverage, creaseless and long-wearing, exactly as it boasts, and its dewy finish leaves me with a hydrated and healthy-looking under-eye area that is never cakey. Just between me and you, it's so good that I already have a back-up at the ready.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer is available from Sephora for $24.

  1. I saw this and debated on getting it but it was just too rich for me. I ended up getting the smooth operator amazonian clay wp concealer instead. It's less dewy and glides on smoothly. Nothing beats my liquid concealers though. NYX HD just completes me. I still need that NARS concealer! :P

  2. Hey Tiffany, oh I'm tempted! I'm still on the NARS one which is good (the best I've tried so far), but I would like to believe my HG is still out there somewhere! Thanks for putting this on my radar!

  3. I just bought this! Initially though that it would be too thick to have under my eye, but after reading this I will give it a try :)

  4. This sounds good! I'm using NARS at the moment, and also the Revlon Colorstay one which has similar packaging. I love the liquid concealers because they're so much easier to use.

  5. Haven't tried this product before and not really heard anything about it until now! Might need to pick it up (:

  6. I love this concealer too! I find that it's perfect for under eyes, but I like using it for any imperfection on my face :D

  7. Lol, I too thought you had reviewed this already! I always reach for this concealer when I'm feeling dry or if I'm doing makeup for the second time in one day. I generally apply it with my ring finger, but haven't tapped between my fingers to warm it up. I'll try that!

  8. I'm loving my Bobbi Brown corrector as I have bought my third one already. But this looks like a really nice high coverage concealer too! It's nice that it is moisturizing and sticks to the skin nicely with it's thicker texture. I'll keep this in mind next time I run out of my Bobbi Brown! This will save me a few bucks haha :)

  9. Ooo, I've never tried the NYX HD concealer...I wonder if it's a dupe for the NARS? I'm on my second tube of the NARS concealer (I use it for blemishes) and I love it. The thick texture of the Tarte concealer definitely isn't for everyone, but I personally LOVE it.

  10. No problem, Sunny! While I love the NARS concealer for blemishes and redness, it just doesn't cover my dark circles as well as the Tarte concealer does. You should give it a try sometime!

  11. Let me know how it goes, Rachel! It is very thick, and I initially wondered how I would be able to blend it under my eyes too, but the key is to warm the product up first :)

  12. I love the NARS concealer too (although it doesn't cover my dark circles as well as the Tarte one does), and I've only tried the Revlon Colorstay stick concealer, which I also liked. I typically like the consistency of liquid concealers too, but I sometimes find that they don't offer enough coverage, especially if they're on the runnier side, which is why I was surprised to find that this one was so thick and full-coverage!

  13. Let me know what you think if you end up trying it, Stefanie! It's a fantastic concealer, especially if you want something full-coverage :)

  14. Yay! So happy you love it too, Kelly :) I've used it on my face before too, and I agree that it's pretty great. It just covers SO well. I just don't typically use it day to day because I find my NARS concealer quicker to blend since it's not as thick, which is important when I'm trying to conceal large surface areas ;)

  15. Right? I've had it for so long but I guess I just never got around to reviewing it or something. It deserved its own post! I find that tapping it between my fingers makes it even easier to blend since it's so thick! Let me know how it goes for you :)

  16. So many people love the Bobbi Brown correctors and concealers, but for some reason, I've just never tried them! Glad you love them so much! Repurchasing a product is a great testament to how much you actually love it :)

  17. I tried this before and I loved the dewy finish on me but it creased like crazy! The 2nd time I tried it I had better results because I set it with a setting powder but it took the dewiness away :( Do you set yours with a setting powder? any tips or tricks to keep the dewy glow?

  18. I have been contemplating purchasing this for some time. It looks great on you. I'll definitely have to pick it up sometime. Thanks for the review!

  19. You need to try NYX HD concealer. I'm very anal with my concealers and tried so many out there. NYX HD is full coverage and hides dark circles to blemishes so well. It's very cheap esp when you buy at Ulta with coupons and B1G1 deal. :)

  20. I actually don't need to set mine with concealer usually as I don't experience creasing with it...I'm sorry to hear you do though. That's a shame :( If you do have to set with powder, I'd suggest a light, finely milled powder that has a bit of luminosity to it (like the Bourjois Java Rice Powder).

  22. I'll keep that in mind when I run out of my NARS Concealer! :)
