The Repurchased Skincare.

When something works, it just works, you know? Here are a few skincare bits I've loved enough to repurchase...

1. Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè - This is basically the perfect all-purpose moisturizer for me. It carries the potential to make me a bit shiny in the warm summer months when my skin is already more prone to oil, but I love it during the other 9 months out of the year. Its light cream consistency is not so light that it fails to offer substantial hydration, but it's also not so heavy that it clogs pores or interferes with makeup application or longevity. It's perfect for day or night, and that's why I always keep a tube on standby, even if I'm trying out other moisturizers.

2. DDF Glycolic Toning Complex - I swipe a cotton pad dampened with this toner all over my face every night after cleansing. The glycolic acid acts as a gentle chemical exfoliant that, surprisingly, doesn't dry out my skin as I had expected it to. It helps keep breakouts at bay in addition to prepping my skin for all the serums, oils and creams I put on before bed.

3. Pai Echium & Argan Gentle Eye Cream - I recently repurchased this after having an allergic reaction to my last eye cream. Sadly, I think I might have developed an allergy to this one as well, despite no changes in formulation since I last used it, as my eyelids and under-eye area both became inflamed and itchy shortly after I started using this again. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic, hydrating eye cream that I continue to recommend to others, as it works brilliantly overnight and under makeup. Don't worry, Pai, it's me, not you.

4. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - The best no-fuss, no-frills, does-what-it-claims-to-do cleanser around. I like keeping a bottle on hand at all times in case my skin ever reacts poorly to something because I know that Cetaphil will never irritate my skin or exacerbate any reactions I might have to other products.

5. Emma Hardie Natural Lift and Sculpt Moringa Cleansing Balm - I'm nearly coming to the bottom of my second tub of this luxurious balm, which is definitely a testament to the immense love I have for it. Read more here.

And last but not least, my trusty Shu Uemura Fresh Cleansing Oil. I must have forgotten to photograph it (shame on me!), but I've been through at least five large bottles (450 mL each!) of this baby over the years. If that's not love, I don't know what is. Best makeup remover ever.

In the blogging world where we often throw around words like 'love' and 'favorite' far too often (myself included!), repurchases are sometimes the best way to gauge how much a blogger 'loves' a product and whether or not it's still a 'favorite' :)

  1. I love the Clinique balm! It takes off all my makeup, including my waterproof liner and mascara. Also love that it is fragrance free unlike the EH...I try to avoid fragrances in skincare! xx

  2. I have always wanted to try the Shu Uemura Facial Oil. I need to get on that.

  3. i agree with you. repurchase means real love. ;)
I tend to stick with skincare items that work for me. shiseido FT perfect whip, Avene Eluage cream and Cerave lotion are some of my repurchased items!

  4. It's one this to purchase and a true testament to repurchase! Lots of gorgeous picks! If you like the Shu Uemera Cleansing Oil I think you would love the One Love Organics Active Moisture Cleansign Oil, it's so good!... Just saying :-)

  5. I often use Embyolisse when my skin needs extra hydration and have repurchased it as well. Cetaphil was my go-to cleanser for a long time. I switched to CeraVe, which is very similar but I personally like it a little more. Everything else here I've never tried! I agree that repurchases are a good way to really show what your real favorites are

  6. I am also a big Cetaphil fan! I have yet to try that cleanser, but their daily facial moisturiser is a favorite of mine! :)

  7. I have totally repurchased the same eye cream, and I think I will do it again! It's just so nourishing without being greasy, and it keeps my undereye area smooth and hydrated under makeup (which for some reason, the grand majority of the products I have tried can't achieve)!

  8. wow - you use Glycolic complex every evening? i had it once, but used it only 1-2 times a week, because i had read somewhere it was like a peeling or something so i simply didn't want to risk. I liked it though! maybe i need to repurchase it? :) and use it daily?

  9. I love seeing what other people repurchase! I've been pretty loyal to most of my skincare as well :)

  10. The Emma Hardie is on my wishlist although I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay quite that much for it! xo

  12. Where do you purchase the Emma Hardie balm from?

  13. I'm totally looking to try the Emma Hardie cleansing balm, but think it might be more of a luxe product then something that I really need in my skincare routine, what do you think?

  14. I am gunning for the EH balm soon, but also want to try the plain Clinique version as it sounds quite easy to get along with. Sad that you have developed a reaction to your eye cream :( I have just started using my first large Shu oil (I've previously tried a travel sized pink oil from them) and am really enjoying it :)

  15. Wow a lot of these I have never even tried so this makes me really curious to try them all out! Actually out of all of these I have only tried out Cetaphil and I hated it! But I know that is a super popular cleanser. I always check out DDF in store but never end up buying anything...no one really talks about them much which always makes me more interested in trying it out. And of course I am forever curious about Embryolisse.

  16. I am a constant repurchaser and lover of the Shu cleansing oils too. I even refuse to wear heavy makeup if I know I dont have it to remove everything at the end of the day. Which is why I stock up on bottles and even have mini ones for travelling. I use Paula's Choice AHA/BHA treatments and I think its quite similar to the DDF one! My skin loves glycolic acid! Thanks for this post Tiff, enjoyed seeing your ultimate repurchased skincare.

  17. I couldn't agree more with you about the Cetaphil! It's a consistent repurchase for me and I always have a large bottle in the shower for face and body cleansing.

  18. My 'love' would definitely be Estee Lauder ANR serum. I don't know how many I've repurchased already. When it works, it just works. Sorry to hear about your allergic reaction to eye creams though. Have you consulted a doctor about it?

  19. That's so true about repurchasing! I've repeatedly bought Cetaphyl and would have repurchased the DDF toner if they hadn't stopped shipping it to Canada for some reason. I'm going to have to check out that EH balm!

  20. I have heard so many great things about the Embryolisse moisturizer and I want to try it out so bad (especially for the winter) but it is not very accessible. I'll try to dig around a little bit before or place an order online...

  21. Just ordered the Clinique cleansing balm after much deliberation on my part! Can't wait to try it. I'll let you know how it goes! Let me know if you try it too :)

  22. Glad you like the Clinique balm! Can't wait to try it :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I LOVE it! I've tried the one in the purple bottle too and it's also fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ahhh, I've never tried any of those! I need to get on that since you seem to love them so much :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm running low on my Cetaphil so I'll definitely check out CeraVe next! Thanks, Catherine!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love how gentle and no-fuss their products are!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I hope I can go back to using it soon....I don't know what's wrong with my eye area :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. I do! I've never experienced dryness or any irritation from daily use either. Everyone's skin is different though, so maybe try it every other day first and see how your skin reacts to it first?

  29. What are some of your go-to products, Emi?

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's definitely pricey, but it is SO worth it! I've heard the Clinique cleansing balm is good too, and it's more affordable as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I've never tried TBS one, but I think most, if not all, cleansing balms are meant to be removed with a muslin/wash cloth...is that how you used yours? I love using a cleansing oil to remove my makeup then a cleansing balm for a second, thorough cleanse. And, ugh, my eye. Who knows what its problem is -_-

    ReplyDelete
  32. It all just depends on what your budget is. It's a fantastic product that I feel is worth the money, but it is definitely pricey. If you're happy with your skincare routine as it is now, then by all means, skip the EH :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wowza! I can see it's a staple in your routine as well :)

  34. 1. The EH is amazing. I hope you love it!
    2. I've just ordered the Clinique balm. Can't wait to give it a try!
    3. My eye cream dilemma makes me sad. Haha.
    4. Glad you're liking the oil too! I've only ever purchased the pink version, but I've tried deluxe samples of the purple bottle version too and it's also fantastic!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorry you didn't like the Cetaphil...I could see why though. I personally like it, but it's not amazing by any means. The DDF toner is the first and only product I've tried from them, but I'm impressed. I agree that the brand doesn't get talked about much though. And Embryolisse...LOVE.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree, Shari! I've traveled before where I couldn't bring my shu oil with me, and removing my waterproof mascara was a nightmare! I have mini bottles too now for traveling :) Have you tried the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask? If you like glycolic acid, I think you'll like that mask also!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Let me know what you think, Sharlynn!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I still haven't tried the ANR serum! I want to though....I need to get on that soon.

And yes, I have gone to the doctor and all they can tell me is that I must be allergic to something, but of course they can't possibly know what it is if I don't even know since they just ask me if I've used or done anything different. It's frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I remember you saying you liked the DDF toner too! Bummer about the shipping dilemma though. The EH balm is totally worth the hype, as far as I'm concerned!

  40. Hi Sylvia! I know what you mean. I don't know any place that sells Embryolisse in store, so I purchase it on Amazon.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Got my eye on that. Will pick it up soon! Thanks love!

  42. I've seen a normal doctor, not a dermatologist...
