Benefit Rockateur.

On my birthday last month, I decided to gift myself Benefit Rockateur. After seeing some swatches floating around the blogosphere, it looked like a blush that would be right up my alley, and surprise surprise - I was so right.

Benefit Rockateur is pinky-peachy-beige with soft shimmer. The texture is smooth and soft without being powdery, and it has medium pigmentation that can be easily built up. The swatches shown below show two layers.
Although Rockateur is indeed shimmery, I find that it translates into more of a satin finish on the cheeks than a sparkley or shimmery one. It's like the much less shimmery, more muted cousin of MAC Stereo Rose. It imparts the most healthy and radiant flush of color that doesn't compete with the rest of the makeup. Definitely a great blush to add to my goes-with-everything pile.

Other things:
- Yes, it comes with one of those brushes. Yes, I threw it into my makeup drawer where I store the rest of my Benefit boxed power brushes.
- Yes, it's scented. I personally think it smells heavenly, and I can't really detect it at all once I've applied it; however, if you're sensitive to fragrances on your skin, this might be an area of concern.
- It comes with 0.17 oz of product, compared to 0.28 oz for the older boxed powders, and yet it costs the same. In some ways, I do feel a bit ripped off, but then I think about the last time I even managed to use up an entire blush and I stop being bent out of shape over it.

Overall thoughts - Must-have? No. Nice-to-have? Absolutely.

Benefit Rockateur can be purchased from Sephora for $28.

  1. Hey Tiffany, Rockateur looks fantastic on you! I'll have to quickly swatch it to figure out how I feel about the shimmer. My first Benefit blush (Coralista) is too shimmery for my taste, and I have steered clear ever since ;)

  2. It's a nice color, but I am not feeling the sparkliness of it. It looks like a great blush regardless.

  6. Rockateur come to momma. What a gorgeous, everyday shade of a blush. I love how it looks on you Tiffany. The texture sounds lovely and the fact that it's on of those blushes that goes with everything, well it's definitely a must buy for me ;)

  7. Thanks, Sunny! I think it's definitely less shimmery than Coralista when worn on the cheeks. Looks more shimmery in swatches for some reason!

  8. Thanks, Lindsey! Yup, shimmery blushes definitely aren't everyone's cup of tea, which is completely understandable!

  10. Seems to be a trend with a lot of blushes lately, no? Haha. I do like how it swatches too though, so maybe you just don't like it in general? Understandable since it's not exactly a unique shade...

  11. Thanks, Diane! I'm all about the blushes that go with everything....I'm too tired in the mornings to think about what goes with what!

  15. Thanks, Taylor! The Benefit boxed powders definitely seem to be a love it or hate it kind of thing, don't they? I'm personally a fan in general, but Rockateur is also a difficult one for us pinky-beige fans not to like ;)

  18. Hi Tiffany,

This shade looks amazing on you! I have neither so correct me if I'm right, but it looks like it could almost be a shimmery version of Tarte Exposed. :)

I recall BritishBeautyBlogger asked a Benefit PR and got an answer why there's less product in Rockateur compared to Benefit's other powder blushes. You can read it here: http://www.britishbeautyblogger.com/2013/07/benefit-theyre-real-booster-set-rockateur-news.html

The TL;DR version is that Rockateur was made differently and would have cost a lot more if it has the same amount of products as their other blushes.

  19. Really pretty on you! I swatched this but didn't get it because it was so shimmery of a swatch! I see it's not so shimmery on your cheeks though! But like Sunny, I'm not a fan of Coralista even, so yeah-I don't think it's for me.

  20. I don't have any box blushes... and I admit I was scared looking at how foiled this blush is. It looks gorgeous on your cheeks though :-)

  21. Ohh it's so beautiful, I love the packaging! It gives such a pretty glow <3

  22. Hey Ryou!

Tarte Exposed is more brown and mauve in comparison, but both are fantastic blushes in their own right :)

And I've heard that too about why Rockateur costs more. Interesting!

  23. Aww, bummer! Yeah, this one is definitely less shimmery compared to Coralista, but I'll be honest - I love Coralista too! haha.

  24. Hey Lily! There's actually a bit of an overspray on top that makes it look foiled. But yeah, it's still shimmery even once the overspray is gone...just not quite as shimmery as it appears in the pan at first! And thank you :)

  25. Aww, thank you so much, Jennie! <3

  26. Thank you for the comparison between blushes! I might still consider getting both, in that case. :)
