The Current Edit.

A few things I've been using lately...

.Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Hussy. I started using Hussy again recently after my makeup routine experienced a bright blush drought, and I fell in love with it all over again. It's the most beautiful, insanely pigmented watermelon blush that just screams summer. One extra light tap of my blush brush for each cheek is more than sufficient, and unlike some other matte blushes, Hussy blends out seamlessly and isn't chalky in the slightest.

.Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. I randomly reached for this one day in an attempt to utilize more products in my collection, and I've been loving using it to set my under-eye concealer. It's so finely milled that I find it actually makes my skin appear softer, and I love that it truly is translucent (i.e. none of that dreaded white cast business). Occasionally, I'll use it to set the rest of my makeup as well, but I prefer my Hourglass powders for that.

.Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in 04 Sun Blondes. Though I liked Sun Blondes when I first got it, I'm completely and utterly enamored with it now! The red tones in it just seem to mimic a real tan so much more naturally than more orange-toned or exclusively brown bronzers do. A classic 3 shape on each side of my face and I'm one happy (not to mention sunkissed and bronzed) lady.

.Physician's Formula Happy Booster Blush in Warm. I've been reaching for this some mornings when I'm running short on time and can't be bothered to put any thought into what blush shade to go for. The formula is good, not great, but its sheerer pigmentation means that I can be heavy-handed and rather careless with my application and no one would ever know. Yessss.

.EcoTools Bronzer Brush. I LOVE this brush. I can't believe I've only just added it to my collection. I thought I didn't need another bronzer brush, but I was so, so wrong! It's dense enough that it can really pack on the color if you want, but not so dense that it can't blend it out too. And the bristles! They're SO. FREAKIN'. SOFT. Like a puppy.

.NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard. Another product that I dug out from my makeup drawer after neglecting it for a while. Since my skin has been decent lately, some days I'll just throw on a bit of tinted SPF and concealer and consider my base makeup done. I appreciate how long lasting and full coverage it is, and now that I've gotten just a bit of sun, Custard matches me perfectly. Finally.

.MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl. I thought I had lost this for the longest time, but I finally found it again about two weeks ago and have been wearing it most days since its return. It's the perfect peachy nude, and I love it paired with lightly bronzed skin and a peachy golden blush like NARS Luster.

  1. The ecoTools brush is amazing! It's in my collection too and I haven't used it in awhile. Shameful :( It's also really close to the Tarte foundation brush and I used mine more for foundation. But I've been using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush for bronzer lately so maybe I'll buff out the equally as dense but 4x bigger ecoTools :) I recently pulled out LM's powder too! NARS Custard is way too light for me right now so I actually have to set concealer again and LM's is perfect.

  5. Weeeeee, fun things!

I loved that LM powder. I think I'll have to repurchase it when there's budget for a nice powder. I still haven't tried a Guerlain bronzer but it's also on the long "eventually" list. :)

I have that Guerlain bronzer, but kind of felt meh about it. Maybe I'll pull it out again and try it now that I'm a tad darker.

  9. The Guerlain bronzer looks beautiful, and yes to red tones! And I love me some Ecotools brushes, they're just so so good and so affordable as well :)

  10. those are nice picks! I like hussy but need to use it more or gift to a friend *sigh* and I am liking LM lately as well :D their mineal powder and silk creme foundation are amazing, I don't need to say that I love Guerlain and their bronzers are phenomenal, sun blondes pulled too pink on me though xxx

  11. I have that Ecotools bronzer brush and it's massive and so plush! It's a tough one to wash though. I swatched NARS Custard RCC instore today and it's surprisingly thick. I've wanted MAC Shy Girl for ages but don't wear nearly enough eye makeup to balance it out.

  12. I need to lay my hands on a regular Guerlain bronzer, but that's probably for next year. For the moment I have their new Rouge G's on my list!

  13. I really want to try eco tools brushes! I still haven't managed to pick up any yet!

  14. I really need to get my hands on the NARS concealers, as it seems like everyone adores them! It also seems like everyone loves the Laura Mercier powders. Do you have the Mineral Powder? I'm curious to see how they differ from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders. Lovely post!

  17. Tiffany what are you doing to meee? I've been lusting over Shygirl for centuries now. I NEED it. ( I swear if I still don't have it by the end of 2013, feel free to throw virtual tomatoes at me. haha :D) But seriously though, I can also see myself wearing it with just bronzed skin paired with my beloved Nars Casino bronzer. Oh la la. Match made in heaven me thinks? Speaking of blush, man I might as well add the Eco Tools bronzer brush while I'm at it. Hide my purse for me Tiffany? Pretty please? ;)

  19. Loveeeee that LM powder. I own one too and its perfect for setting the under eye area. Esp bc mine creases with concealer. Still haven't got that NARS concealer yet, really want one but the price is getting to me.. lol Im happy w/ my NYX HD for now.

  20. Ugh I am so jealous that you can use the LM powder . It broke me out :(
such a shame because the finish is to die for !

    Love that PF blush

  21. Ahh you just reminded me that I have a brand new Physicians Formula Happy Booster blush somewhere in my pile of crap that I bought ages ago but completely forgot about...until now. I like Physicians Formula--its my go-to drugstore brand for when I need blush because, as you stated, the shades are quite sheer and therefore very easy to apply!

Oh, and I NEED that EcoTools brush in my life!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think I need to get that ecoTool brush!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Right?! I'm in love with the Ecotools brush right now. I haven't tried it yet for anything other than bronzer, but I'll definitely have to give that a go sometime. I want the RT buffing brush but I just wish it came separately as opposed to in a set, since I don't know that I'll use the other brushes :-/

  24. I'm not sure...I don't have the old version but I've seen it before and they look pretty much the same to me? And yes, the Guerlain bronzer is beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ahh, you have so much self-control, Lily. I envy you! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I didn't know that either! It's definitely a beautiful bronzer :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's my first Guerlain bronzer actually! I also wanted to try one of the new 4 seasons ones but that will have to wait for now. How long did it take you to finish up the LM powder? I can't imagine using it all up!

    ReplyDelete
  28. They're SO pigmented and nice!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Every time I use Hussy, I'm always like, WHY HAVEN'T I BEEN WEARING THIS?! It's so freakin' pretty. Sad about the Guerlain bronzer, though. Hopefully you'll like it more when you try it again :-/

  30. I completely agree with you, Rocaille! Ecotools and Real Techniques seriously give high-end brushes a run for their money. Do you have any other bronzers with red tones? The idea intrigues me now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Aww, bummer about Sun Blondes! I could see that happening though as it is quite pink! I like the LM Mineral Powder too but for some reason, my skin gets so shiny when I use it and I have to blot all the time. I tried Silk Creme back in the day but had a horrific color match so it turned me off. Might have to try it again sometime!

  32. I haven't tried washing mine yet....is that gross? Hahah. And yes, I love the NARS concealer. I think because it's rather thick, it stays on really well and also covers amazingly. I know what you mean about Shy Girl though. It can make the face look a bit bare if you don't balance it with the eyes or cheeks.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I only have 1 Rouge G and omg, it's heavenly. The most perfect red too! The packaging is quite heavy though, no? Gorgeous and luxe, but heavy.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kelly! You NEED the bronzer brush!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Haha, sorry, Heather! I feel that way all the time when I read other people's blog posts and watch beauty videos on YT :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know we've already been through this on Twitter, but yes, you need Shy Girl AND the Ecotools bronzer brush! Sorry I'm not sorry ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. My under-eye concealer definitely creases too if I don't set it. You're not alone! Haven't tried that NYX concealer, but glad to hear you like it!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aww, really? So sad :( I agree that the finish is just beautiful though. Glad you like the PF blush too :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't have much from PF actually, but the few bits that I have, I really enjoy using! Their prices are a bit on the higher side for the drugstore though :-/ And yes, you definitely need the bronzer brush!

    ReplyDelete
  40. bahahaha ok. if you insist :D I really needed someone to twist my arm about it lol

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sadly I didn't finish it but sold it in a blog sale. Totally regret it now!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah there's no going around that! I usually carry the one lipstick I want to use that day with me though, so it's OK!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yes, you do! I LOVE it, and it's so affordable too!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm really curious about the EcoTools bronzer brush! Everyone is raving about it but as for the pictures I've seen it seems too big... Isn't is tricky to use?

Illamasqua Hussy is also among my most used products this month! Love it with my tanned complexion in summer :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. It is bigger than what I'm used to using for bronzer, but I felt like a change I guess! :) I think if anything, it might take a bit of getting used to in the beginning just because it's quite dense (I was using a duo fibre brush before), more so than due to its size. I love it though! And I can definitely see why Hussy is so flattering on you! It's amazing on tanned skin, even though I'm not exactly tanned at the moment :P

  46. I do have the Mineral Powder and to be honest, it's completely different from the Hourglass Powders - they're meant for different things. The LM mineral powder is meant to be a mineral foundation so it offers light coverage, and the Hourglass powders are finishing powders and don't offer any real coverage. Both are great!

    ReplyDelete
  47. They're definitely both great products!

    ReplyDelete
  48. i am thinking i want those nars concealers. but definitely don't need them. groan

    ReplyDelete
  49. I didn't need them either.....bahahah

    ReplyDelete
  50. lol we don't need anything at all i think. you know, maybe skincare if and when we ever run out hahahha

    ReplyDelete
  51. I always see them in the store but never find one I really REALLY want. I'll have to pick this one up!
