My Favorite Look This Week #3

This week, I rediscovered MAC Trace Gold and decided to put it to use again as it seemed like a great shade for summer. I paired it with Rouge Bunny Rouge At Goldcombe Bay for a barely-there bronzey glow and loved the effect it gave my skin. The subtle shimmer in Trace Gold meant that I could forgo highlighter without having to skimp on luminosity. I also love how Trace Gold just enhances bronzer, and it actually doesn't add too much color on its own. I think on darker skin tones, it would make a beautiful highlighting shade.

In continuing with the MAC rediscovery theme, I opted for two of my favorite eyeshadows - All That Glitters on the lid and Quarry softly through the crease and on the lower lash line. I added a bit of Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Whiskey to my waterline and top lash line just for definition rather than as overt eyeliner.

For my base, I relied on the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Sunscreen Fluid to even out my skin tone while also providing sun protection, and my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard was used to add coverage only where I needed it. Hourglass Diffused Light was then lightly dusted all over to set the concealer and also to cancel out any remaining redness in my complexion.

Lastly, on my lips, I wore MAC Shy Girl because I thought the peachy tones complemented Trace Gold's peachy golden hues perfectly.

What was your favorite look this week?

  1. Pretty! I love rediscovering old favorites and did that with Tarte Peaceful yesterday. The rest of the week I was wearing a chocolate and black-violet smoky eye. Yep. I'm ready for fall :)

  2. Aww so pretty! I need to dig out my gold eyeshadows. I used to love them SO much until I got into the more "weird" taupe-y shades, but they're perfect for the season!

  3. So pretty and summery! I've only seen the clear La Roche-Posay Anthelios sunscreen- the tinted one sounds like a better version of Origins Vitazing! I love the eyeshadows- and Shy Girl looks great on you! Not too nude :)

  5. Very pretty and glowy :-) I've been neglecting my MAC products for a long time. I always remind myself to bring them out but i have the tendency to get distracted by something else. Lol!

  7. Hi Tiffany,

What a beautiful choice of colors! They're all so glowy and natural. Quarry has been on my must-have list for some time. I really need to pick it up the next time I stop by the MAC Pro shop!

  9. Another gorgeous look! I'm always nervous about shadows with any trace of pinky tones, but all that glitters looks really lovely on you. Reminds me of Stila Kitten :)

  12. Thanks, Cherie! I think I compared the sunscreen to Vitazing in my review of it, but I can't remember for sure. It's not nearly as orange as Vitazing and it has a matte finish. I LOVE it!

  13. Hey Tracy! I think it's because of my bronzer that it looks that way actually. I actually applied bronzer on my cheeks as opposed to under the cheekbones today :) I am really enjoying Trace Gold again though!

  14. Same here, Lily! I used to be obsessed with MAC, but now, there's so many other brands and collections that I'm more interested in!

  15. Yay! I often forget how pretty All That Glitters is when I don't use it for a while!

  16. Thanks, Dovey! Glad you liked the look. Quarry is definitely a must-have crease shade, in my opinion. The slightly mauvey/purpley undertones really set it apart from other crease shades like MAC Wedge :)

  18. Thank you, Catherine! I know what you mean about the pinky tones. Sometimes they make me look like I've got an allergic reaction going on, but I've never experienced that with All That Glitters :)

  21. I recently got shy girl :D I quite like the colour as well. Trace Gold looks natural and I didn't even know they are having such a colour. I still haven't tried those hourglass powders, but they tempt me so much, I think it is time do try it out finally, I like the finish on you a lot xxx

  30. Thank you, Claire! I think Trace Gold doesn't really get much love in the blogging community for some reason! To be honest, it's probably just because it's nice but not amazing, but that's okay :) Let me know if you end up trying out an Hourglass powder (or two!). I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

  36. Glad you like Trace Gold too, Jenn! I really like the two Hourglass Powders I have (Dim and Diffused Light), but not really sure I'd buy any of the others. I love the finish they give, but you're right - I've also heard people say that they didn't really think they were all that special.
