Foolproof Blush & Bronzer Pairings.

I'm a believer in bronzer year around for the most part, but especially during the summer. Finding one that complements, rather than clashes with, that day's blush pick can be a challenge. Subtle, bronze, glowing skin with a pop of color on the apples is typically what suits my fancy. Here are three foolproof blush & bronzer pairings I've been loving:

Pairing #1
NARS Bronzer in Laguna & Stila Convertible Color in Petunia
Laguna is a bit dark on my NC20 skin and serves as a more noticeable, slightly dramatic bronze for me, but it also creates the perfect background for the bright, saturated color of Petunia. When used in conjunction, the two seem to give me that sunkissed beach bunny look I miss so much from living in southern California.

Pairing #2
Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzing Powder in Sun BlondesChanel Le Blush Crème de Chanel in Présage
When swirled togther, Sun Blondes manifests into a gorgeous coral-bronze that complements the warm apricot hues of Présage perfectly.

Pairing #3
Rouge Bunny Rouge Bronzing Glow Powder in At Goldcombe Bay & Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed
At Goldcombe Bay is the palest and most subtle bronzer in my collection, and its cooler tones pair seamlessly with Exposed when I'm aiming for a more natural and subdued cheek.

Don't be afraid of mixing creams with powders either. I don't really see it being an issue as long as you don't have a ton of product caked onto your skin (applying thin layers is key) and you use the right tools to apply and blend.

What are some of your fail-safe blush & bronzer pairings?

  1. Beautiful pairings, my dear! Though I have just been lazy and doing blusher/bronzers all the time, this summer instead of 2 separate shades :P Been reaching for Guerlain's Terracotta Light in Brunettes a LOT as well as Dior's Coral Glow and Chanel Sable Rose. Actually just finishing writing a post on it :P The only one currently missing from my collection is Guerlain's Terra Nerolia. WHEN is that one FINALLY going to hit my nearest Nordies counters??! :*(

  2. This is an awesome post Tiffany! I'll be honest, I hardly ever wear bronzer - even in the Summer! But I have tarte Exposed and love it, so I might have to get the last bronzer, that way I can wear them together and know they'll look great :)

  3. Fun post! I haven't worn Exposed in awhile and I just realized it's because I needed to find a bronzer it matches :) I've been wearing a lot of Buxom Tahiti with Tarte Blissful lately. "A lot of" is an understatement. I wear the pair almost every day. Just can't get enough!!

  4. Nice! I'll have to try some of these out! I love the Givenchy Poudre Bonne Mine Healthy Glow Powder paired with Chantecaille Wind Blush. But they discontinued Wind and I am SAD now. I was going to buy another one last trip to Cali, but I couldn't! SO SAD.

  6. Gosh! I love each and every one of these picks. We are n the same page here. I recently checked out the Chanel Creme blushes and Presage was the exact one I fell for! I havnt picked it up yet but I can't stop thinking about it. I also need that RBR bronzer, gorgeous! My most recent pairing has been Chanel Soleil Tan Base with Bobbi Brown almond or Tarte Tipsy. :-)

  7. Im love your pair 1 and 3
I really believe in paring a bronzer and also a blush the whole year long. Im using NYX bronze goddess as bronze r on my cheeks and on the top of the cheeks an apricot shade from a a drugstore brand DA.
I wish I could find tarte over here.

  9. Creative post idea! Sometimes I forget to do bronzer tbh especially this year since I haven't gotten much sun. But it looks lovely with blushes, love your pairings

  11. Such a great post, I never really though about bronzer-blush pairings, but after reading this, I realized that I've been doing it without even being aware of that. For me Benefit Hoola and Artdeco Blush No.12 work perfectly well together :)

  12. Even after trying loads of bronzers, I always come back to Lagune. I just love that bronzer. Great picks Tiffany! I'd love to try that RBR bronzer at some point - it looks absolutely fabulous!

  13. I never really think about pairings. I just kind of slap on whatever I feel like it that day.. but now that I am thinking about it... some blush/bronzer combos do just work better together. I think my most worn duo this summer has been Chanel Bronze Universal with Tarte Tipsy x

  14. My go-to pairing is Tarte Exposed (I couldn't live without it!) and Chanel Bronze Universal. Or sometimes I just use Exposed to build it up on my cheeks and work it to my temples a bit to give some color.

  15. Such a fun post to read, you're so right - you can have a great blush and a great bronzer separately, but the blush/bronzer combo needs to complement each other to work well. I've been using Hourglass Radiant Light and NARS Madly for the last few months, though Radiant Light isn't quite a bronzer, it does give a slight added warmth.

  16. I also love using Laguna with rose-coral hues <3 I don't have Petunia but use NARS Orgasm, Illamasqua Hussy or the pink part from MAC Crew.

However, my lately obsession has been NARS Madly + MAC Too Chic! I can't have enough... Summer is my favourite season for bright blushes :)

  19. Oooh, fantastic post!!! Gives me some great ideas!! I'm now thinking I should get that RBR bronzer, and am slightly second guessing why I gave my Tarte Exposed away?? *sigh*

  20. It still hasn't come out?? I haven't been keeping up with it to be honest... Chanel Sable Rose looks so pretty! I wish I had it too :P

  21. Thanks, Aly! RBR At Goldcombe Bay is a lovely bronzer, but it's very pale so I wouldn't recommend it if you're any darker than NC25 :)

  22. Wow, sounds like you're really loving that combo! Blissful looks beautiful. I go back and forth on whether or not I need it...

  23. Don't you just hate it when they do that?! Jerks. Bahaha. I don't have either of those, but I do want a Givenchy blush...I don't seem to hear much about their makeup compared to other luxury brands.

  24. It's definitely a beautiful bronzer! I just wish I was a bit tanner...it would look much better on me that way!

  25. Ooo, your pairing sounds lovely as well! I don't use my Chanel bronzing base nearly enough. By the way, Presage would look amazing on you!

  26. I've never tried NYX's bronzers, but maybe I should look into it! And yeah, it's a shame Tarte isn't more easily accessible worldwide :(

  27. Let me know how you like it, Kristen! :)

  28. Thanks, Lindsay. I know what you mean - there's definitely times I get really lazy with it and just omit the bronzer altogether, but I've started incorporating it into my daily routine again recently and I love it!

  29. Ooo, I don't have the Artdeco blush, but I do have Hoola and I used to LOVE it back when I had more color! Sounds like you've found a great combo :)

  30. I love Laguna too, Annick, I just wish it loved me back! Hahah. I'm so pale now that I really have to be more careful with bronzers, and Laguna is just a smidgen too dark for me, but I try to make it work anyway :)

  31. Great combo, Aleeza! I have those two as well...I should pair them together soon!

  32. Exposed is an amazing blush, no? I thought it was just nice at first, but now I'm kind of in love with it (as is the rest of the beauty community) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ohhh, sounds lovely, Catherine! It sounds like the perfect glowy, sunkissed combo :)

  34. I agree, Maria! I've started dabbling a bit more in my small collection of brighter shades now that it's summer too. I just used Hussy today...it's a beauty indeed :) I wish I had Madly and Too Chic so I could pair them together - I bet it looks amazing on you!

  35. They are! I like Presage more and more every time I use it actually.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ahhh, I wish I had a TF blush! Love your combo :)

  37. Yay, I'm so glad you got the bronzer! Can't wait to hear what you think of it! And don't worry, it looks nice with Gracilis and Delicata too :)

  38. eeee these are lovely! I want everything lol. Though I'll definitely try my laguna with a stila convertible color... and i have exposed too! So i guess I can try some of your combos too!!
