Christmas in April ft. Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 401.

One of my favorite combinations is gold on the lids with a striking red lip. Admittedly, it can look a bit holiday-ish, but honestly, I don't care. Besides, I love Christmastime ;)
Clockwise from top left:
Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme in 002
Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 401
Bare Minerals Well-Rested
MAC Pigment in Melon (in sample pot)
MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque
Burberry Eyeshadow in Almond
Dior Diorskin Healthy Glow Summer Powder in Aurora

The Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 401 definitely looks most true to color in the photo below. It's a super bright, cherry red that can pull a bit orange. I like to think of it as the liquid, more hydrating version of MAC Lady Danger. The formula is unlike anything I've ever tried on my lips before. It applies ridiculously smoothly and feels almost velvety. It's incredibly pigmented and lasts longer on the lips than most lipglosses tend to, but I do end up having to reapply after a few hours, especially if I am eating or drinking. I also find that after a few hours, it starts to show some signs of bleeding around the edges, but it's not incredibly noticeable.

In other news, I started using Well-Rested again recently and haven fallen back in love with it. For a while when I was a bit tanner, I thought the Kim Kardashian bright under-eye look was a bit much on me, but it doesn't contrast with my skin tone so much anymore now that I'm paler. Embrace the pale, people!

I also uncovered Dior Aurora from the depths of my makeup drawer and dusted it off (only figuratively speaking of course) just in time for spring and summer. I'd seriously forgotten how utterly amazing this bronzer/blush is. I was actually itching for a new bronzer to spice up my collection, but after using Aurora again, I really no longer feel the need. It's perfection.

I'd been thinking about using MAC Melon and Rubenesque again recently after seeing an old FOTD post. Do you ever come across an old post of yours and think, "Damn, I looked good. Why don't I look like that anymore?" I kid, but seriously, it's one of my favorite eye combos. Rubenesque on its own is quite sheer and muted on my lids, but it's the perfect base for Melon and the two go together like peanut butter and nutella....or jelly. You pick. I also have a tiny bit of Almond in the crease for definition.

I also wanted to add that my liner looked much better than that, but then I curled my lashes and half of my liner came off on the eyelash curler, and my attempt to fix it clearly didn't turn out as well as I thought. Thanks a lot.

Oh yeah, I cut my bangs! Yay!

  5. So pretty! I love the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros, I only have the one shade though as they are SO expensive here in Australia!

  6. Ooooh, I love your bangs, they look so cute on you! 401 is such a pretty shade, the glossyness is really nice, I know it's supposed to be a matte formula, but it does has some sheen to it. I think there is always a time and place for red lips with gold eyeshadow ;).

  7. Thank you so much, Teri! I agree, it's definitely not completely matte. I really like the formula. It's so comfortable to wear! I want to try more shades :)

  8. Ooo, what shade do you have, Angie? I'm sorry about the price....it seems like most products are a lot more expensive in Australia :(

  9. Thank you, Taylor! I'm glad you like them :) I hope they come out with more Lip Maestro shades too! I love the formula!

  10. Aww, thank you so much, Sharlynn! Does you hair grow pretty fast? Mine does, and I find that if I don't like my bangs, they grow out within a few short weeks, or at least enough where I can sweep them to the side again, so it's really not that much of a commitment. If you've been wanting them for years, you should do it! Just don't go too short! Been there, done that :-/

  13. That always happens to me with liner -- I find it really hard to apply liner if I curl my lashes beforehand, but the curler lifts off some colour =( PS you are AMAZING with bangs!

  14. RIGHT?! That whole liner/eyelash curler fiasco just gets on my nerves. And thank you so much! I'm so glad you like them :D

  22. I love gold lids and red lips, too. I don't wear the combo often because it does remind of the holidays, but it's stunning nonetheless. This Armani is going on the wish list. Amazing, amazing shade.

  29. Thanks, Alex! Does Rubenesque show up more on you when used alone? It's so pretty in the pot, but it doesn't look like much on my lids.

  38. Thank you so much, Joyce! Do you have any lip maestros?

    ReplyDelete
  39. yes, i have one! it is like a pinky red. forget the shade number though, but i quite like the color and formula so far! :)

  40. You look very beautiful :) Love the shade of that Lip Maestro on you!
I've been using all my red lipsticks a lot lately, and I also combine them with golden/tanned eyeshadow. Classy but never lets me down.

I bought Dior Aurora from a blog sale that J (Lil Lady's Life) did last autumn and I can't stop using it for the last two months. It's the perfect warm blush/bronzer to achieve a healthy look and does not look weird with pale skin (L)

  41. I think that's why I like the red lip and gold eyeshadow combo so much too - it just seems so classic to me. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one :) And I can't believe J sold Aurora! I love that bronzer so much, but at the same time, I'm glad she did because you can enjoy it now <3

  42. Isn't it such a unique formula? I really like it. I want them to come out with some really amazing limited edition shades :D

  43. OOOoo that may just kill me lol :D

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hmmm...the lip maestros aren't drying necessarily, but they're not exactly hydrating either. You might need a good lip balm underneath, but that also might affect the wear time and finish :-/
