Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters.

For the longest time, whenever I'd see someone tweet about these new lip butters Revlon was releasing, I imagined a tinted lip balm in a pot...like the Korres Lip Butters. Once I saw these in stores, however, they proved to be a much more exciting product.

The Revlon Lip Butters are a part of the Colorburst line, and I'd describe them as moisturizing and glossy lipsticks with varying degrees of pigmentation, depending on the shade.

I have four shades:

One of my favorite qualities of the lip butters is the adorable packaging - translucent, color-coordinated lids with a quilted design imprinted on them. The top of the lid is also clear so you can see the actual color of the lipstick inside too.

L to R:
Berry Smoothie
Strawberry Shortcake
Lollipop
Peach Parfait

The lipsticks are slanted at the top and the tube is much like the packaging for the MAC Sheen Supreme lipsticks.

L to R (note: order is different from above...blogging fail!):
Berry Smoothie
Strawberry Shortcake
Peach Parfait
Lollipop

Berry Smoothie

Berry Smoothie is a shimmery, mauvey berry shade. I wore it in this post, and a lot of you were surprised by how glossy it looked. While I can assure you I definitely did not have any gloss on, I am guilty of layering it on quite liberally to build up the color, which may have added to the glossiness :) In addition, Berry Smoothie just happens to also be the glossiest lip butter of the four I have.

Strawberry Shortcake

Strawberry Shortcake is your standard shimmer-free, bubblegum pink shade. It's not so pale that it borders on porn-star-lip-status, but admittedly, it's not the most flattering shade on me. Those who are fans of shades like MAC Viva Glam Gaga I, MAC Angel, or Dior Singuliere would most definitely enjoy Strawberry Shortcake as well.

Peach Parfait

Peach Parfait is a rosy-brown with golden shimmer. It's the most shimmery lip butter of the four I own, but it's not overly shimmery to the point where it'd look silly used during the day. On me, I find it's a very flattering everyday type of shade.

Lollipop

Lollipop is a hot pink with blue-toned shimmer. The shimmer isn't nearly as detectable as it is in Peach Parfait, but it's just enough to make your teeth look shockingly white. The shade is very similar to MAC Girl About Town, and I would've swatched the two side-by-side if my camera battery hadn't decided to die on me :-/ Lollipop is definitely my favorite shade of the bunch!

In terms of pigmentation, I'd say that Berry Smoothie, Strawberry Shortcake, and Peach Parfait are all on the slightly sheer side but can absolutely be built up by layering. Lollipop has full coverage. As a result, Lollipop also has the best staying power, while the others tend to need re-application after about the 1-2 hour mark. Keep in mind, I tend to reapply my lip products quite often anyway, so I'm not usually the best person to ask about wear-time :)

Lastly, I think it's absolutely worth noting that for me, the main selling point of these lip butters and what really sets them apart from the traditional lipsticks is that they are much more moisturizing and comfortable to wear. While some lipsticks tend to dry out my lips or settle into my lip lines after several hours, these feel like I have nothing more than a lip balm on. I also find that while they have more slip than traditional lipsticks, they're not as slippery as MAC Sheen Supremes where I feel like I have to constantly worry that my lipstick has transferred all over my face after eating.

I purchased one from Walgreens and three from Target for somewhere between $6.50 and $8. I believe they are also a part of Revlon's permanent line, so don't fret if you can't find certain shades you want right now :)

Today, I wore Lollipop!

Face:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in #53
Dior Sculpt Lifting Smoothing Concealer in 002
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer in SC-3
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Sand
Benefit Hoola
Benefit Watt's Up
MAC Blush in On a Mission

Eyes:
MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
MAC e/s in All That Glitters
MAC e/s in Quarry
MAC e/s in Phloof!
Prestige My Blackest Lashes Mascara

Lips:
Revlon l/s in Lollipop

Off topic, but did you guys haul anything fun on Black Friday?? ;)

  36. I'm loving the look of Peach Parfait and Lollipop. Especially lollipop ! it's so bright and opaque for just a tinted lip balm. I WANT. but in Australia it would probably cost a bomb.

  37. Love the FOTD totally and I like the look of Berry Smoothie. (:
Maybe I should give it a try :D

  38. Wow! These are nice! Much better than I'd expect from something called lip butter :D

  39. I just bought my first one the other night and I'm already planning on which colors to pick up next. I love them! They make my lips look and feel great and I think they have the perfect amount of pigmentation. I also like the packaging, albeit very deceiving. I was shocked to see how little product it actually contained when I twisted it all the way up. I already have Strawberry Shortcake and plan on getting Creme Brulee next as well as Peach Parfait since you make it look so great in this post! Thanks for the swatches! ;)

  49. I LOVE the Revlon lip butters! They are now my "go to" lip product. I love them because you really dont even have to layer with a lipgloss, and the weartime is AMAZING! You have a nice color selection also, I will probably be picking up the peach parfait next! (:
