5 Products in 5 Minutes.

Ok, so I have to be honest and say that I didn't actually time myself applying my makeup this morning but at most, it was probably like 7 minutes. In my defense, I was taking my time ;)

When narrowing down my makeup routine to just 5 products, mascara and concealer were products that were non-negotiable. I opted for a liquid concealer rather than my MAC Studio Finish because I hate how Studio Finish looks under my eyes. I then added a powder because my face is crazy oily, and my concealer must be set. Cream blush was an easy choice because it can double as blush and as lip color, as long as you choose a more emollient formula and not a cream-to-powder formula. My fifth product was the toughest and I debated between an eyeshadow to fill in my brows, black eyeliner to tightline and draw a wing, and a flesh colored eyeliner for the waterline to open up my eyes. I finally settled on the flesh colored liner. You can't have it all when only using 5 products, right? Something's gotta give!

My 5 products:
1. L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
2. Diorskin Sculpt Lifting Smoothing Concealer in 002 Beige
3. MAC MSFN in Medium Plus
4. MAC Blushcreme in Ladyblush
5. MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in NC15/NW20

The finished look after 5 (or 7) minutes:

I think if you have good skin that isn't super oily, you can probably get away with only 1 face product (either a concealer, foundation, or powder). Powder alone isn't enough coverage for me and if I use concealer or foundation, I have to set it in order for it to last more than half an hour on my skin.

I really love Ladyblush but I hate to talk too much about it since the Ladyblush Blushcreme is discontinued. If you can still get it at your MAC counters, I highly recommend it! I prefer the Blushcreme formula to the Cremeblend one, personally. I love the natural, dewy finish on the cheeks and it actually feels pretty comfortable on my lips too - not too drying, kind of like a satin lipstick formula. The color on me kind of reminds me of MAC Creme Cup Lipstick too.

Which 5 products would you choose for your 5 minute face?

  1. hmmm, I think I would have opted for the eyebrow pencil instead of the eyeliner, but then again I have like no eyebrows lol

  2. Your skin looks fantastic! I wish I could get away with just concealer and powder, alas, my uneven skintone wont allow it :/

  3. LadyBlush Blush creme is gorgeous. I don't dare use mine up because it's discontinued! :(

You look really fresh and lovely!

  4. What a pretty look, your skin is so radiant!

  5. Lovely!!!!
I would opt for brows over waterline brightening...:) but my brows are invisible - I do them everyday without fail.

    My 5:
    EL DW foundation
    EL DW concealer
    MUFE smokey lash
    Mac Fling brow pencil
Nars Outsider lipstick (as lips and cheek color)

  6. loved this post! i might have to do a similar one :) haha

  7. oh and a question!
do you put the creme blush on before or after your powder? i've heard you shouldn't put creme on over powder... thoughts? :)

  8. I go for my makeup forever HD foundation, pump a squirt onto my fingers for super fast application. Then I powder my face With Powder FX, add a lil blush from Gabriel. Add some mascara and a little burts chap stick and I'm off to class. These fast make up tricks come in handy when you have lecture at 8am!

  9. cute! I would have to say..

    1) Palladio Rice Powder in Natural
    2) Chanel Powder Blush in 'Tempting Beige'
    3) Diorshow Mascara in 'Black'
    4) MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner + Lavender
    5) Japonesque Eyelash Curler

I use these 5 every single day for work! They dont like us wearing ANY makeup but Ive found a way around it! lol

  10. Loving this look on you! You are naturally pretty!

  17. You've motivated me to get Ladyblush! I love that color on you!

  18. Thank you for all of your nice comments, ladies! I loved reading all of your choices for your 5 products too <3

@Sue: My eyebrows need a lot of help too but I just felt like my eyes looked so blah without the flesh colored liner :/ I couldn't decide!

@Katie: Haha, that's what Sue^ said too :) And what a great idea to use lipstick as blush!

@Emily: I put it on before my powder but then noticed that I still wanted a bit more color so I then proceeded to apply more over my powder. It *can* get cakey and difficult to blend depending on how heavy the powder is (MAC MSFNs aren't that heavy) and the consistency of the cream blush, but I find that with an emollient cream blush like the Blushcremes, it still works just fine. I use a brush to apply it too, so that might make a difference :)

@Delaney: Tell me about it! Back when I was still in college, I almost never wore makeup when I had 8am classes!

@Janalyn: Ooo...I used an eyelash curler as well but didn't include it because I consider it a tool and not a product ;)

@Lilladylife: It only looks this good today because I curled my lashes before applying it and then again after it had *completely* dried :)

@ColorMeNani: It's my favorite concealer for under my eyes, but it's also pretty good for other areas of the face - definitely worth the money!

  19. I'm going to talk about it in a post for sure, but I wanted to tell you I am TOTALLY won over by Clinique's new Moisture Surge tinted moisturizer. I ALWAYS set my foundation with powder, because I get super oily in my t-zone. You know how much I love NARS Sheer Glow, but it does that weird blotchy-nose thing we both hate. I've been wearing the Clinique TM for a straight week WITHOUT powder, and it stays all day, and the finish is similar to NARS SG. I lovelovelove it! The only downside is the shade selection, but shade 2 matches me perfectly. I'd try to pick up a sample if you can - I want to know your thoughts!

  20. I had to comment again to say how much I sound like an ad!! hahaha Oh, btw, you look great - you're making me want to try lining my waterline with a flesh-tone pencil!

  21. Nice post. I am loving cream blushes at the moment, especially for that dewy finish.
That picture is lovely ! x

  22. You looks so pretty, so natural and your skin is amazing! If I had to pick 5 products I'd go with your 5 except instead of the nude eyeliner I'd go black.... but lucky I can use many many more than just 5 products because I don't think I could stick to just 5! LOL

  23. My skin could never look that flawless with out foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, and blush!!! And thats 5 products right there :( haha!

  24. You look so fresh with this products nice

  25. i love the ladyblush cream blush. i haven't tried the new formula yet but i heard its less greasy, which might work out better for my oily skin.

  26. This is such a fun post!

    I would pick....

    1. Lancome effecernes concealer
    2. tarte cheekstain in tickled
    3. laura mercier mineral foundation powder
    4. maybelline collosal w/p mascara
    5. revlon superlustrous lipgloss in pink pursuit

  27. Ooh tough

    1. UD 24/7 liner in zero to line top lashline and wing
    2. NARS Sheer Glow foundation
    3. MAC Mystery e/s to fill in brows and as eye shadow
    4. BECCA beach tint in Peach for lips and cheeks
    5. MAC Studiosculpt concealor under eyes and redness

  28. I LOVE reading your guys' 5 picks! There's so many products on your lists that I've been dying to try!

@Jessica: ooo...I wonder if they have it at Sephora? I'm definitely going to try to get a sample and try it out sometime :)

@MakeupMeBlush: It doesn't really look THAT flawless in real- life, lol. Believe me ;)

@MaviDeniz: I have super oily skin and I don't think the Blushcreme formula is too oily or anything on my skin. The Cremeblend has a more satin-ish finish though so if you don't want dewiness, that one is probably better :)

  29. Great post, my choice would be:
    - clarins tinted moisturizer;
    - l'oreal mascara
    - clarins tinted lip balm
    - borjous lip pencil
So I managed to do it with 4! Never have time in a morning for a proper makeup LOL
