I say if you can't wear bright pink lips in the Spring, when can you wear them?
MAC Girl About Town is a gorgeous hot pink lipstick but to be honest, it intimidates me. The thought of wearing such a statement lip just to pick up some groceries, for example, might be a bit much for the average person (like me).
MAC Girl About Town
I'm sure there are ton of ladies out there who are fearless with their makeup and are looking at that photo and thinking, "Pink lips. What's the big deal?" If that's you, then go on with your bad self! ;) But, if you're like me and think that the bright pink lip above should be reserved for nights out instead (on me, anyway!), then you might want to try a bright pink tinted balm or gloss with medium pigmentation instead.
Sleek Pout Polish in Pink Cadillac
I promise, it's actually brighter and pinker in real life than it appears in that photo. It's still a version of a bright pink lip but sheered out and glossier, so it feels more daytime and comfortable to me.
I'm also wearing Illamasqua Hussy Powder Blush, a super pigmented watermelon pink, and I think it complements the bright lip perfectly and isn't over-the-top, as long as you remember to keep the eyes simple and natural.
I love makeup trends but I think it's important to adapt the trend to your face and lifestyle. If your makeup makes you feel like a clown or you feel as though it probably would look a lot better on someone else than it does on you, you haven't done it right. How closely you can follow or re-create a trend doesn't matter in the least bit - it's about tweaking it so that you always feel confident and beautiful ♥

Completely agree! Great post :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Pink Cadillac! I always thought it would be brighter because it looks quite vivid in the pot.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like Girl About Town on other people, I definitely haven't got the *balls* to wear it quite yet! It makes your teeth look super white btw :D
I think you look amazing with the bright pink!
ReplyDeletebtw forgot to ask- what eyeliner are you using? It's the perfect matte dark brown!
ReplyDeleteI wear bright lipsticks on a daily basis, otherwise I feel naked without it :(
ReplyDeleteAnd Illamasqua Blusher in Hussy in one of my favourite blush! x
I love Girl About Town but I do agree with you. Wear it if it feels right with your lifestyle. I tend to go all out with my lipstick though sometimes I do think it's a bit much for picking up the kids from school. I justify it by saying it's for the blog ;)
ReplyDelete@River: Thank you :)
ReplyDelete@25FLONDON: It actually *is* brighter and darker than it looks in that photo! It's really quite pigmented!
@Jen W: It's UD 24/7 liner in Whiskey :)
@Lisa: I've recently rediscovered Hussy and I love it! I feel bad that I've neglected it for so long :(
@Michelle: Haha, I use my blog as an excuse for a lot of things!
you have a beautiful smile!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a bright pink lipstick - I'm gonna be sporting as often as possible on sunny days! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm completely like you I can't wear bright colours during the day! I love the pout polish, definitely a great alternative :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love your last paragraph about adapting trends to your own sensibilities. I think it's easy to get carried away with what's going on and forget your own style (something I've definitely been guilty of). There's always a way we can work within the trend to have the best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteI love your posts on making one color work for day/night and or making a bright color wearable: I'd love to see more of them!
♥ Jessica
I literally JUST BOUGHT THIS SIX HOURS AGO! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI love it and I also have a review on it on my blog!

I love the bright pink on you! And it really pops with your sweater! I love bright pink for day because it gives the sophistication of a darker lip without being as serious and severe as a red. I like to do a toned down version with Dior Lip Glow and then after it's changed my lips to bright pink I top it with NARS Easy Lover gloss.
ReplyDeleteThis post is just what I needed :) I picked up a bright gloss yesterday (Revlon's Colorburst in Strawberry) and I tried it on today and I got kind of scared. I'm more of a neutral, baby pink, nude lip kinda girl so I'm trying to crawl out of my comfort zone this season ^^ You give me more hope in making bright colors work! :D
ReplyDeleteGirl About Town looks gorgeous on you! *adds another lipstick to my wishlist* Loving Illamasqua's Hussy too! Perfect look for spring, Tiffany! You really nailed it with these two looks!
ReplyDeletethe bright color looks really really good on you! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your lovely comments!!
ReplyDelete@Jessica: Then I will be sure to do more of them! :D
@Sana_A: You did?! What a coincidence!
@Kayla: I totally agree. Bright pink seems to be so much more wearable than red for me.
girl about town looks amazing on you. i've been eyeing this for-ev-er--- i love bright pinks - i think they're universally flattering. thanks for sharing xo
ReplyDeleteI love bright lips! You look stunning with this make up look hun!!And the eyeliner ..lovely!!

Mac Girl about town looks very pretty on you :-)
ReplyDeleteboth pinks look beautiful on you, but i am really loving Girl About Town especially! it's nice to mix it up sometimes! gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIm always to afraid to pull of the bright pink look, i think wearing viva glam gaga was daring enough for me. ill have to give the pout polish a try :)
ReplyDeleteI love the lighter gloss on you, it looks great with your skin tone! I need to get some of that!!
ReplyDeletesuch a pretty colour! I really have to have Girl About Town now! I like bright lips for every day as well as night, I just think they look awesome any time! :D
ReplyDeleteI love the look of Girl About Town. I think that is going to be one of my next MAC purchases. Also love the look of the Cadillac pout polish. I have it too but don't wear it because it has a really funny taste and smell. Do you find that at all?

Thank you for all of your sweet comments, ladies!! <3
ReplyDelete@Nora Schu: I'm wearing Diorskin Sculpt Lifting Smoothing Concealer in 002 Beige with Bare Minerals Well-Rested to set it :)
@FunnyFaceBeauty: I haven't really detected a taste but I agree that the smell is no good. It's just too sweet and cloying. It gives me a headache if I smell it in the pot but I find that the smell disappears rather quickly once it's on my lips.
Great post, love both looks you've done. I've been pretty daring with my lipstick choices of late, and think I would rock the first shade out to do the groceries=) We'll see how I go haha
