If you've been following my blog for a long time, you might remember my self-imposed makeup ban last year where I vowed to refrain from buying any makeup during a ~4 week period leading up to the release of MAC's In the Groove collection. How did I do, you ask? I failed after a miserable 18 days. How utterly pathetic. Not one to accept defeat (not that easily, anyway, and especially not to makeup!), I'm now embarking on my very first Project 10 Pan.
In other words, I will not purchase any makeup products or nail polish until ten makeup products are finished. Finished - not just hit pan. The reason for this mission is pretty self-explanatory: I have way too much makeup for my one face and I need to use some of it up before I can buy more.
I hope you all understand the magnitude of my decision. I very rarely ever use up my makeup products and hypothetically, if I were to follow in the footsteps of those bloggers who often write series of posts documenting products they've used up, I'd probably write about one product every six months, at which point my readers would have forgotten it was ever a "series of posts" to begin with.
Before you all begin praising my courage and bravery (am I the only one who takes makeup this seriously?), there is one thing I'm going to allow myself to buy and that's a foundation. I still need one and even with all the samples I've accumulated, I'm not sure I've found "the one" yet, so if I happen to find it while on Project 10 Pan, I'm buyin' it!
I'll leave you with a photo of my potential P10P candidates:
In case you're wondering, there are actually 11 items there. Since the UDPPs are minis, I'm going to have to finish both of them for it to count as 1 item :)

Place your bets now: Will this finally be my success story or simply a pathetic repeat of last year?

I really need to do this after IMATS! I tried this last November but failed miserably. Its especially difficult when you blog and read blogs because you are constantly seeing pictures of newly released products.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever want to do a no-buy swap let me know. I have so many unused almost brand-new products sitting in bags here. :)

You can do it!! I know you can. Try to restrain yourself from buying makeup and nail polish. I myself am on a makeup ban until Quite Cute.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is a great way to challenge yourself! You're very brave for taking it up! Are you gonna use double the amount just so you can finish it up faster? Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! :)
Goodluck! :D I put myself on a Project 10 Pan for almost 5 months (it will be 5 months at the end of the month). I'm technically still on ban but I've broken ban many times.... I've finished a lot of body care and some skin care but barely any makeup :( But I did refrain from making any purchases for more than a month during the ban which is an accomplishment for me :)
ReplyDeleteIt really isn't easy but it is a rewarding experience ^^ It's good that you want to curb your spending on beauty products. Afterall, it's the thought that counts...er, right? :P
Good luck! Even though I don't have thaat much makeup (my collection is starting to get bigger lately though!) I rarely finish a product completely (with the exception of liquid foundation).
ReplyDeleteI hope you last longer than 18 days this time!
I think you will succeed!! If your mind is ready for it, then you will do it for sure. You might have to stay home on the weekends and not go out and see new collections of makeup :p I had a project eat at home pan (LOL) where I couldn't eat out for 1 month. I succeeded. I know you can too :D
ReplyDeleteI can never do this but I really need to. Blog sales have helped me get rid of some of the makeup but I still have a massive amount. Love the blush here. What color is it? It looks gorgeous. Good luck with your 10 pan projects.
ReplyDeleteyou can dooo it!!! I've done it twice so far and it feels damn good to make some room in our drawers :)
ReplyDeletei have faith in you!!!!
ReplyDeletebut i have to admit, i'm pretty weak too >.< it's so hard.. especially when MAC releases a new collection what seems like EVERY MONTH. i'm eyeing everything in the 'quite cute' collection .. perhaps after that i'll embark on a ban/pan-10 project. xo
Wow that's a pretty big undertaking if you have to actually finish the products!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Tiffany!
Good luck girl! :o) Believe me, you're much braver than I am ! I started a 'project' of my own that is actually encouraging make up purchase haha :o)

I'm certain you can do it! Then again, I vowed I wouldn't purchase any makeup products in the month of January, and what did I do? I started a beauty blog! (I'm not one to talk ;)

You can definitely do this. :D
ReplyDeleteYou can do it, and I should too!!! Hahaa, why is it so hard?!! I'm still on the hunt for my HG foundation too.
ReplyDeleteI admire what you are doing and have often wanted to do the same, coming to realize that having so much makeup leads me to forget about what I have. Plus, I feel bad spending so much on makeup when there are so many others less fortunate that I could be helping with some of those extra dollars! Good for you Tiffany! I wish you great success!
ReplyDeleteadmire your courage and determination for such a project! good luck to you and please report to us how it goes :)
ReplyDeletebest of luck sweetie! this is very hard! I tried doing a P10P and totally bombed =*(
ReplyDeleteBut it does feel amazing to fin items!!! ESP make up! lol they last forever it seems
I had never gone so far in 1 blush as u did in the photo!
Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement! You guys are the best and I will be sure to check back regularly :D
ReplyDelete@Julianne: Kind of, haha. I think I'm going to try to stick to the same few products on most days because if I switch up my blush and lipgloss everyday like I normally do, I'll never complete P10P!
@AngelicBetrayal: Yeah, I go through my skincare stuff pretty frequently but I wanted to really restrict my P10P to makeup because that's where I have the real problem! For me, since I don't buy skincare in excess the way I do makeup, counting skincare products would be cheating (just for me, not in general). Good luck to you!
@Rainy Days and Lattes: hahaha, I literally just laughed out loud at your Project Eat at Home Pan comment :D You're awesome!
@Ansa: Thank you :) It's MAC Blushbaby.
@bloominbeauty: Oh my gosh, yes. You're completely right. Adding that on to my P10P Motivation List!
Good luck with your project 10 pan! I really need to do something like this as I have far too much make-up and very little willpower! x
ReplyDeleteGood luck!! That's so hard. I could never do it. =P I've given up beauty and fashion related items (makeup, hair products, clothes, bags, etc.) for Lent though and I REALLY hope I make it. I'm rooting for you!! I know how it feels.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see I'm not alone ;) I never use up my make-up products either !!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have a success doll!!I'm sure and good luck!
ReplyDeletexxx
You can do it! I think i should do the project 10 pan but i am not ready! Instead i am going to be doing empties posts to show readers what i am finishing. I suppose it's a similar principal.
ReplyDeleteLet us know how you go!! Looking forward to seeing your updates!
xx
What a brilliant idea, I may have to join you. My make up will soon need its own room if I'm not careful :) x
ReplyDeleteGreat plan!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you good luck!
Good luck sweetie!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the luck!!
I need to do this too actually.
I just don't think I'm ready yet.

Tiffanny you can do it!! :) I myself need to be part of this project ten pan also. It's true. We have way too much makeup for our "one" face. That was funny when you said that. I want to make a post on some products I finished. It feels great to actually finish products. Then I have a reason to buy more. XD
ReplyDeleteYou can do it:) I just started my own too:)
ReplyDeletei think this is an awesome idea! and i wish you luck! i definitely want to try this out myself because i'm definitely starting to accumulate an unhealthy amount of makeup :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck girl!!!! Stay strong!!!! :)
